I think Windows 10 was released in a haphazard way by Microsoft even when there were so many bugs yet to be removed after getting feedback for technical preview version. I had no issue on my licensed Windows 7 Home and before upgrading to Windows I carried out compatibility test with my already installed apps and drivers. And at that stage it gave me 1 incompatibility issue with an app. Windows 10 is an immature OS with a lot of backward compatibility issues. The installation of older apps in compatibility mode is seemed to be an eyewash. I have more than Apps installed on my PC and startup shows only a few.
Some services start up during boot and remains closed in next boot. Using a powered hub often takes care of this. There could be another problem but low USB port amp output is a common one. There is no need for the utility in Win Windows 10 takes the place of the utility on the right bottom side. A lot more options can be made with the alfa utility since windows suck. Ok sorry, things can be done with Windows too using CMD or PowerShell but take few clicks with the utility and few more minutes. Stable and active network connectivity is required for windows computer during driver installation. After connecting the windows computer with active network, open the browser and search for webpage to download the drivers. For more wifi adapter drivers go free-drivers. Open the downloaded driver and all its setup file for driver installation. The stability of network connectivity must not be interrupted at any cause. After confirming the network strength, visit webpage to download frimware.
