The Fire Queen pdf by Emily R. The Rogue King pdf by Abigail Owen. the voice actor pronounced words and names differently from the other voice actors and it threw off everything for me. I also didn't care for his interpretations of other characters'voices. otherwise, the book was fantastic like the previous ones! I absolutely loved this whole series. Emily R. King has created a brand new world that I've never seen the likes of before, and it is rich with culture and heritage and history. The characters have become my friends, and the landscapes have become my daydreams. Incredible writing, entrancing story, and perfect narration. If I ever have children, this would be a series I would read to them every night at bedtime.
I loved it. She fought so that others did not have to fight. She fought to make a better world. She fought to kill a demon and even lost her hand to kill the demon then lost her man for that very reason. But this story is of a selfish woman who wants to get her man that should be dead. She turns herself from the man that she should marry in the human world so that her kingdom can have a happy life with the rest of the nation. She forsakes the title she worked so hard to gain and then she goes to the underworld and treats the God who has allowed himself to help her like a pervert. So as not to spoil anything else I will not tell anymore of this story but to say that she is cruel to those she should appreciate and to those she should bow her head to she treats like a jerk. A man who was a wonderful person who wonders everyday how he can make a better nation he treats like a jerk.
Several people have noted before that the two narrators in the preceding books pronounce names and places differently. This adds yet another narrator with different pronunciations. Add to that the fact that the third guy is TERRIBLE, and this last book became painful to listen to. I wanted to hear how the story finished, so I made myself, and became VERY aware of how a bad narrator with inappropriate inflections can ruin a story. Ok story, but kind of meh. I totally identify with Kalinda as a character, but the narrator makes her sound super whiny which sucks. The author does great describing her world and people in it.
Couldn't put it down. Great conclusion to Kalindas story. Well read by all 3 narrators and nice to have a voice for Ashwin. Kalindas journey to retrieve Deven is gripping and well written. Good descriptions to help you imagine the demons and monsters lurking in the void. I'll definitely buy more books by Emily R. The problem when you are listening to a really good series is that, eventually, it has to end. I have really enjoyed this journey, although I found Prince Ashwin to be a complete fool. However, everything came right in the end. This is a well written and read series. Get Your Free Audiobook. The Warrior Queen The Hundredth Queen Series, Book 4 Written by: Emily R. The Warrior Queen is a satisfying ending following 3 storylines that tie up all the loose ends and give us a happily ever after we wanted. The Kalinda arc explored the afterlife and the relationship between the mortals and the gods; the Ashwin arc was probably the most entertaining it dealt with political turmoil and a threat of rebellion; the Deven arc had the least amount of action as his story was one of reaction and survival.

Netgalley 63 Many thanks to Emily Griffin and Netgalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Great way to end this series! This may have been my favorite of the four. A trip to the underworld, an impossible rescue, a coup, and kickass women warriors! Three points of view too. I read it in one day. And the demons are quite original. Of course I never get enough of Bhuta powers. Excellent creation. King Netgalley 63 Many thanks to Emily Griffin and Netgalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Decent ending to an interesting series. Kalinda is trying to save Deven from the Void. Prince Ashwin is trying to unify his nation. Deven is trying to survive in the Void. I think this series should have ended at the 3rd book with a different ending. I've lost interest in the storyline and characters. flag 14 likes · Like · see review. View 1 comment. Oh this was such an improvement after the previous book!
I love this one sooooo much better than Rogue Queen. That one I actually sort of hated. Kali has improved immensely. Ashwin has moved on from his crush on her thank the gods. There was so much for him to overcome from his father's reign and the ensuing bhuta coup. He had to learn things on the fly, step on some toes and ruffle plenty of feathers as he progressed through rebuilding Vanhi since the war, working out trade deals and foreign alliances, overseeing the plans for the new sisterhood temple being built in the city, wedding plans, and researching ways to possibly save Deven from the Void. Very, very busy and stressful. Through watching him struggle with all these expectations and pressure he really grew into his own and grew into a character I really enjoyed reading about. That's such an immense turn-around for me! And that alone just made me love this book. This book expertly weaves those issues into the plot, and shapes it into the real snarl of how truly it is.
It's the underlying current that drives the story, how Ashwin and others are fighting to overcome it, to change centuries of hardened beliefs into something new and positive moving forward with the empire. The protests and violence that ensue, from the disagreeing perspectives of those for following the old ways versus those wanting to break away and follow a new path. It's all so realistically laid out, but in the end it is also brought to a satisfying conclusion with hope that these goals can be reached in the future, with time comes acceptance.
That really is the over all theme of this entire book, that one powerful, beautiful thing: hope. Hope to fight and free a lost love, the hope of meeting our beloved friends and family again, the hope for a better brighter future, the hope for equality and having the right to choose your own path, the hope for acceptance even though we're all different in every possible way. And of course I must give a shout-out for all the amazing girlpower this series flaunts. We meet sooooo many fantastic women through the books, and they each get their time in the spotlight so we can know them better.
